Jean Patou: Pioneer of fashion history
Jean Patou, an outstanding visionary of French fashion, founded his fashion house in Paris in 1914. Famous as "the most elegant man in Europe," he revolutionized the fashion world with a fresh lightness and elegance. His designs freed women from the constraints of Victorian fashion and brought chic yet practical clothing into everyday life – a groundbreaking idea for his time.
New freedom in women's fashion
In the 1920s, Patou abandoned the corset and introduced a new silhouette that combined freedom of movement with style. Its innovations, such as shorter skirts, pleated designs, and the "JP" logo on swimwear, set new standards. With the launch of its first sports line and a collaboration with tennis player Suzanne Lenglen, Patou uniquely combined functionality and elegance.
Fashion house with a great heritage
After Patou's early death in 1936, prominent designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Lacroix, and Jean Paul Gaultier continued to run the fashion house in his spirit. Even though Patou discontinued its fashion division in 1987, its iconic fragrances like "Joy" remained legendary.
The Rebirth of Patou
In 2018, the fashion house experienced a renaissance thanks to its acquisition by the LVMH group and under the leadership of Guillaume Henry. Henry preserved Patou's heritage while simultaneously creating a modern vision. With the launch of its first ready-to-wear collection and iconic accessories such as the "Le Patou Bag"—made from recycled leather—Patou wrote a new chapter.

Under the direction of Guillaume Henry, Patou today combines its rich history with a forward-looking vision. The motto: "Parisian chic with a touch of fantasy, couture, and humor." Alongside timeless elegance, the fashion house is committed to sustainability, as demonstrated by the "Le Patou Bag" and other innovative projects. Further expansion is already planned: a dedicated store in Paris and the introduction of additional accessories.
